When Sabrina Carpenter began rocking baby-doll blush, we knew it was solely a matter of time earlier than the doll make-up look took over. And now all of the signature features of our favourite toys have come into recognition. From huge lashes to the emphasised cupid’s bow lip, we’re betting doll make-up is right here to remain.
“To me, glam has always been inspired by things we find beautiful. It only makes sense that we’re inspired by the beauty we see in dolls as kids and then again as adults,” says movie star make-up artist Judi Gabbay.
Methods to Get All Dolled Up
“When you’re going for a doll makeup look, you should try to focus on accentuating all of your features to make them bigger, as opposed to elongated or angled,” explains Miami make-up artist Natalie Dresher. “Big lashes, big eyes and bright lips and cheeks are all essential parts of this look.”
Dresher recommends including a nude liner within the waterline to create an even bigger eye after which complementing the look with shades of pink and nude to your eye shadow.
“For this look, I love Kevyn Aucoin’s Contour Eyeshadow Palette ($39) in the Medium Deep family. These are the perfect shades for creating this look,” says movie star make-up artist and director of artistry & schooling at Kevyn Aucoin, Nick Lujan. “Use a medium-toned matte shadow in the crease of the eye, preferably in the pinky mauve family. Deepen the crease with a deeper matte rosy-brown shade,” Lujan advises.
“Popping on a fake lash always gives a doll-like effect,” Dresher provides. “I love Lilly Lashes lashes because they really bring on the drama since they are faux mink! The new self-adhesive lashes are really great and really work.”
And for the blush, extra is extra.
“I love the exaggerated feel of blush concentrated higher on the cheekbones for a doll-like effect,” says Gabbay. “Start from the center of the eye, swooping upwards toward the cheekbones.”
